SMI Eye Tracking Glasses: World's First Binocular Glasses-Type Eye Tracker Released
Eye Tracking Glasses by SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI) Combine Outstanding Eye Tracking Data and HD Scene Details with Unmatched Ease of OperationTELTOW, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI), for 20 years a world leader in eye tracking technology, today announces the official launch of SMI Eye Tracking Glasses, the world’s first binocular mobile glasses-type eye tracker. The powerful eye tracking device by SMI is optimal for all mobile applications e.g. brand awareness at the point of sale, user experience on mobile devices, man machine interaction or professional training in sports. With no adjustments to the user needed, SMI Eye Tracking Glasses are as easy to use and as fast to set up as a pair of glasses. With an HD scene camera, they provide unique detail and field of view. Automatic parallax compensation gives high accuracy over all viewing distances. Watch Video
SMI Eye Tracking Glasses are worn like a normal pair of glasses and are ready for use instantly. The wearer only needs to briefly fixate on one point in the environment for initialization. The HD scene camera records where the test person is looking with an unprecented level of details, e.g capturing the tiny graphical elements or text on mobile devices. The optimized field of view captures the scene for applications from far to close distances, e.g. from spacial orientation in sports to reading of a magazine. Two small cameras on the rim of the glasses capture the eye movements of the wearer and map the gazepoint into the scene video. This binocular eyetracking and automatic parallax compensation delivers very reliable and accurate data over all viewing distances. With its unique interchangeable sun glasses, the mobile eye tracker is also designed for fully mobile outdoor tests like car driving.
“We have more than twenty years of experience with the development of mobile eye tracking systems. The SMI Eye Tracking Glasses combine cutting edge electronics design with advanced algorithms to automate all critical aspects of mobile eyetracking that in the past needed explicit user attention. The result is a truly disruptive solution, that allows our customers to achieve an operational productivity and data quality that was impossible to reach before,” says Christian Villwock, Director of SMI’s Eye and Gaze Tracking Systems business.
