GstarCAD MC opens drawings on iPad

Beijing, China: September 15, 2011 --GstarCAD, an industry leading 2D/3D CAD software provider, successfully launched its new GstarCAD MC mobile client for iPad, aiming to bring greater working convenience to its customers. The software conveniently accesses drawing files, is blazingly fast, and offers unique functions and features for drawing and editing -- unlike other CAD apps that run on Apple's iPad.

GstarCAD MC Uses Safe and Convenient OCF Files

The primary difference between GstarCAD MC and other apps is that users do not need to go through data servers to access drawing files on their mobile devices; instead, they simply use OCF files, a new drawing format developed in-house by Gstarsoft. The company developed the format to ensure that a more stable and accurate version of drawings are displayed by mobile devices. Users see drawings exactly as they appear in GstarCAD running with Windows on desktop and laptops PCs.

To create OCF files, users can download the desktop version of GstarCAD, which includes the OCF convertor. Once installed, users convert their DWG files to OCF format, and then transmit the OCF files to their iPads through iTunes synchronization. In approaching data access in this way, Gstarsoft ensures that uploaded drawings are accessed safely and conveniently; users do not need to puzzle over which file is online or offline.

GstarCAD MC is Blazingly Fast

GstarCAD MC boasts a nearly unbelievable processing speed on iPads. In benchmarks conducted by the company, other apps took an average 16 seconds to open a 1.86MB drawing file; in contrast, GstarCAD MC took a mere 5 seconds to open the same drawing converted to its special OCF file format.

GstarCAD MC Displays the Magnifier Window

GstarCAD MC enables drawing and editing operations to be more accurate and convenient on iPads. While all operations are performed by touching the screen, the unfortunate side effect is that fingers can block the fine details typically found in CAD drawings. Gstarsoft has solved this problem with the handy Magnifier, a small window that displays on the side a magnified view of the drawing currently under the finger. This allows users to see exact points for their drawing and editing operations.

The Magnifier also displays exact snap points. With snap marks displayed in the Magnifier window, users can easily choose correct points in drawings, allowing them to speed through drawing and editing functions.

Price and Availability
The software is available today at no charge from the Apple iTunes Store at itunes.apple.com/ca/app/gstarcad-mc/id456933691.
The latest Windows version of GstarCAD is needed to convert drawings between DWG and OCF formats, and a demo version can be downloaded free from en.gstarcad.com/download.php?for=1.
