Nomadic Display DesignLine Modular System Wins Two Awards

Springfield, VA— Nomadic Display, a world leader in portable and modular display solutions, was recently recognized with two design awards. An exhibit for Joan Rivers Worldwide Enterprises was selected Winner, Best 10’x 20’ exhibit in the Portable/Modular Awards sponsored by Event Design magazine. And Nomadic Display’s own exhibit was named Best Stand at International Confex in London. Both exhibits were created from Nomadic Display’s DesignLine system of modular components.

The Joan Rivers Beauty exhibit, designed by Berm Studios, was created for a live event—The QVC Beauty Bash. Held February 11, the Beauty Bash was attended by QVC’s top 200 customers and enabled these buyers to meet the people behind their favorite cosmetics and sample new products. Styled like a high-end retail environment, the clean, well-lit Joan Rivers Beauty display included a backlit portrait of Ms. Rivers, two cosmetic application and demonstration stations, and tiered shelving for product display. The use of halogen down-lighting combined with clear acrylic shelving resulted in bright illumination on the products—achieved with a minimum of fixtures.

At International Confex, the Nomadic Display Stand took Best Stand Honors for Best Visitor Experience for the second consecutive year. The stand design featured graphics of candies and columns capped with larger than life translucent red lollipops—which tied in with the stand’s “How Many Sweets?” theme. Visitors were invited to guess how many sweets were contained in a 10-foot tall acrylic sleeve located in the center of the exhibit. This activity was more than a guessing game—it included a live visitor experiment: Nomadic Display was attempting to prove British scientist Francis Galton’s hundred-year old theory that the mean average of any crowd’s guess will be closer than the guess of any one individual. On this occasion Mr. Galton’s theory proved untrue: winner, Tish Butcher’s guess of 1008 candies was closer to the correct answer of 1013 than the mean average guess of 997.

Although these exhibits are both dramatically different in their look and feel, both were created from Nomadic Display’s DesignLine system of modular components. “These awards offer further testimony to the versatility of DesignLine hybrid displays — as well as designers’ abilities to use them to create unique branded environments,” says Gwen Parsons, senior vice president of Nomadic Display.
