699 people from across Slough, South Bucks and Hillingdon made their way to Iver Heath to see a local community pantomime hit the stage.

Celebrating its 71st year, the Iver Heath Drama Club performed 'Snow White' to six sell out audiences over two weekends (18th to 25th January 2020).

Friday's performance was attended by Joy Morrissey MP, whose constituency includes Iver and Iver Heath, and as well as Martin Tett, leader of Buckinghamshire County Council. Mr Tett on twitter said "Many many thanks to Iver Heath Drama Club for an absolutely fabulous and very funny evening. You were all stars!"

Performances throughout the show's run were also attended by Councillors from Ivers Parish Council and Spike Mayhew, the Mayor of Uckfield.

The club is thriving thanks to a ever-growing supportive audience and the time and energy of its volunteers. Matt Streuli, 30, works at Wexham Park Hospital but at the weekends he's the Club's Chairman and the Pantomime Dame. "I'm extremely proud of our community. We're all different backgrounds, ages and abilities who come together to put on brilliant shows and have fantastic fun".

The majority of the dwarfs were played by local children and teenagers. Snow White was played by Eleanor DeSouza, 15 from Iver Heath, while her Prince was played by Alice Campling, 17 from Iver Heath.

"Too many youngsters don't have much to do but cause trouble" said Claire Hall, the show's co-director from Woodley, Reading. "I started here young, worked my way through the ranks trying different things on or off stage. Amdram gave me something constructive to focus on and in return it gave me skills and experience in organisation, planning and public speaking".

Profits from the shows are combined with grants from Ivers Parish Council, South Bucks District Council and Pinewood Studios and are used to fund the club over the next year. This includes the club's summer show, a family comedy about a band of travelling actors who try their hand at being real life pirates.

If you are interested in joining the 'motley crew' of the Iver Heath Drama Club, you can find them on Facebook and at www.ihdc.co.uk

Thanks to grants and the funds raised, membership is only £2 a week for under 16s and £3 a week for adults.
