My Girlfriends House, Inc. Given Space by Signature Blue Community SpaceSUMMARY
My Girlfriends House, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, will use space donated by Signature Blue Events to reach more at-risk young ladies.
Upper Marlboro, Maryland (September 7, 2011) Signature Blue Community Space, a new community, cultural and educational facility adjacent to Fed-Ex Field, in Landover, MD has donated space to My Girlfriends House, Inc., for the organization’s use.
“Now we have a home for our seminars, mentoring and other events,” said My Girlfriends House Executive Director Veronica Eyenga. “Signature Blue Community Space’s generosity will help us reach more at-risk young ladies in the Washington metropolitan area.”
Designed and built to support women’s groups and educational opportunities for women, Signature Blue Community Space owner Hyacinth Tucker approached My Girlfriends House to donate the space. “There isn’t another organization that does what My Girlfriend’s House does for young ladies in the DC area,” she noted. “MGH provides mentoring, scholarships, purses filled with personal care items, school supplies and clothes. We’re proud to help support the organization’s mission and give them a home.”
One of the organization’s first activities in the new space will be to begin its Girl Talk mentoring program, a national program that the organization will use to help at-risk high school girls succeed in school, in their careers, and in life. “Signature Blue Community Space is easy to reach by mass transit, and is becoming one of the leading centers for women in the area,” Eyenga noted. “We’re excited to be a part of it.
