Fiducia Charity Challenge 2nd September 2011
The inaugural Fiducia Challenge held on Friday, 2 September was a great success thanks to a wonderfully sunny summer evening and the support and enthusiasm of the competing teams from Ellisons, Fisher Jones Greenwood, Griffin Chapman, Henleys, Marshall Hatchick and Whittle & Co.The Ellisons team of Alan Holden, Lee Pearce, Philip Roberts, Katie Ramm, Chloe Baldwin and Imogen Dodd won the team prize by a whisker from Whittle & Co, followed by Henleys, Marshall Hatchick, Griffin Chapman and Fisher Jones Greenwood who were under the handicap of being one team member short. However, they were undisputedly the best all girl team!
The challenges consisted of mini versions of croquet, golf, tennis, cricket, rope quoits and “rolling for a pig” (an old pub game but in this case without a pig as a prize). The competition was keen with a play off in the tennis event between Gary Dodd and Dan Aldworth. The winners of the individual events were:
- Croquet – Gillian Whittle (Whittle & Co)
- Golf – Tom Bloomfield (Henleys)
- Tennis – Dan Aldworth (Griffin Chapman)
- Cricket – Richard Ward (Whittle & Co)
- Rope quoits – Will Steed (Henleys)
- Rolling for a pig – Katie Ramm (Ellisons)
The Challenge was friendly but keen competition with the incentive of some great prizes generously donated by our investment connections in the City. A very big thank you to JP Morgan, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Aberdeen, Ignis, Schroders, Invesco Perpetual, BNY Mellon, M & G and BlackRock for their wonderful generosity in providing the prizes. The overall team prize was six tickets to the 2012 Rugby Sevens final at The Stoop with full hospitality. Individual prizes included a pin flag from the 2011 Ryder Cup held at Celtic Manor, signed by the team captain Colin Montgomery, tickets to the next ATP Masters at the O2 Arena, golf accessories and a four ball golf day. In addition and most importantly, through the generosity of all concerned a total of over £800 was raised for the Colchester Young Carers, a most deserving local charity (http://www.affc.org.uk/young-carers/colchester.htm.)
