A HERO to Revolutionize Global Healthcare

The world will soon be able to claim as many mobile subscriptions as it has, people. With that in mind, the Borderless Healthcare Group Inc. is in search of a HERO (Health Enterprise/Entrepreneur Revolution Officer) with the most innovative idea for a mobile healthcare application that will redefine global healthcare.

The winner will undergo a USD $25,000 incubation program managed by a multi-disciplinary team of experts ranging from renowned medical doctors, medical-legal professionals, investment bankers and telecommunication leaders. He/She will also be flown to Singapore on October 11, 2011 to attend the award ceremony at the inaugural Borderless Healthcare Forum - a week-long event featuring key global opinion leaders from the healthcare TMT (Technology, Media, Telecommunication) and investment space.

This initiative was inspired by the shifting consumer demand for mHealth apps that provide more than just basic healthcare information. It is estimated that there will be more than 500 million mHealth users by 2015, of which, the majority will be in the Asia Pacific region.

"First generation health-centric mobile apps with basic content or simple algorithms will soon be obsolete as consumers today are looking for new levels of interactivity, functionality, scalability and professional content in their healthcare apps," said Frank Levering, Director of IT Strategy of BH Mobile Pte Ltd. Added Terry Clontz, former CEO of Starhub, "whether it is ubiquitously extending the reach and timeliness of critical medical information or simply enhancing personal health management, realizing the full potential of mobilising healthcare applications is just beginning."

Budding mobile apps developers can now participate in the HERO competition by submitting an 800-word description on his/her mHealth app idea to www.borderlesshealthcare.com/heroaward. The winning app will be accessed on its usability, simplicity, design and customisation.

"This is an exciting platform for mobile app developers to bring change to the current global healthcare landscape. Regular competitions such as this will now engage our younger generation of mobile app developers meaningfully to spur new innovations in mobile phone applications" said Professor Desai Narasimhalu, Director, Institute of Innovation and Management at Singapore Management University.

The closing date for concept submission is on September 23, 2011.
