Freescale Technology Forum India opens today in Bengaluru
BENGALURU, India (Freescale Technology Forum) – August 24, 2011 – Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL) kicked off the 7th edition of the annual Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) India at The Leela Palace in Bengaluru with more than 1,400 attendees. The annual two-day event is a platform for innovation for the embedded computing executive community. It provides a unique opportunity for the design community to meet and explore the latest innovations in embedded design and exchange ideas with industry experts from around the world.The theme for this year’s FTF is ‘Powering Innovation.’ FTF showcases not only the comprehensive, market-focused spectrum of enablement solutions but also the ecosystem of partnerships needed to help developers innovate and accelerate their time to market. The event drew record participation this year and the venue sold out.
The premier event opened with a keynote address by Freescale Chairman and CEO Rich Beyer. “The essence of what Freescale brings to the industry is innovative embedded processing solutions,” Beyer said. “While a good strategy is important and critical, the ability to evolve that strategy and execute on it is about people and leadership, and I think we have a team that is absolutely world class across all of the dimensions of the business.”
The guest keynote address was delivered by Hugh Herr -- athlete, scientist, innovator, futurist and director of the Biomechatronics Research Group at MIT Media Lab. “The Freescale Technology Forum is a great platform for nurturing innovation,” Herr said. “The kind of work done at Freescale touches everyday lives of millions worldwide and is instrumental in improving the quality of life - be it in the fields of medical care, automotive, safety or connectivity. I am delighted to be part of FTF India.”
Other senior members of the Freescale team attending the event included Henri Richard, senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer, and Reza Kazerounian, senior vice president and general manager of Freescale’s Microcontroller Solutions Group.
FTF India 2011 features more than 70 hours of technical training sessions, tools and more than 65 interactive Technology Lab demonstrations organized in the fields of Automotive, Consumer, Industrial and Networking technologies. Some of the cutting edge technologies on display included the i.MX Smart Mobile device, Bering Wireless Airbag Jacket, an automotive airbag reference platform created in collaboration with Bosch, a four-cylinder gasoline engine demonstrator, a single-chip hybrid instrument cluster with accelerated graphics and several portable health care reference designs.
