SGS provides Complex Pavement Engineering in Australia

In May 2011, SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, was awarded a contract by Abigroup to provide comprehensive Pavement Engineering for the Reid Alexander Interchange in Perth, Australia. As a sub-contractor, SGS is performing periodic pavement surveys to evaluate the quality of the newly constructed highway.

SGS was assigned a contract to provide complex Pavement Engineering for the Reid Alexander Interchange Project in Perth, Australia, by Abigroup in May 2011.Reid Alexander Interchange involves a grade-separated interchange at the intersection of Reid Highway and Alexander Drive, aimed at improving road safety.

In order to ensure best quality and to assess the performance of the newly constructed highway, Abigroup (http://www.abigroup.com.au/), one of Australia’s leading engineering and construction contractors, looked for a reliable third-party testing company.

As a part of Pavement Engineering services, SGS Australia (http://www.au.sgs.com/industrial_au?lobId=22449) was awarded the contract to execute periodic pavement surveys on a sub-contractor basis.

By measuring the top layer of the road for rideability and roughness properties, SGS is comparing the acquired and processed data with the contract specification limits. Due to its extensive expertise and competence in the construction sector (http://www.sgs.com/construction-industry.htm?catId=10135023&lobId=5550&type=segment), SGS’s team of highly skilled experts provides a wide portfolio of pavement performance assessments. These include FWD Deflection, Roughness Survey and Rutting, applying a Digital Multi-Laser Profilometer (DMLP), Skid Resistance Measurements, using the British Pendulum Tester and other Visual Inspections to detect any surface unevenness and pavement failures.

Applying complex Pavement Engineering (http://www.au.sgs.com/pavement-engineering?serviceId=10171765&lobId=22449) services, SGS conducts pavement assessments on a regular basis. Additonally, SGS (http://www.sgs.com/_industrial?lobId=5550) experts provide the client with rapid and comprehensive monitoring and reporting services and assistance in issuing prompt conformance reports for final approval.
