Müller: EDP must make its pro-European voice heard
Müller, member of the German Freie Wähler (Free Voters) Party, will use her new mandate to carry the EDP’s pro-European message to the European regions.
Müller said after her election: “Lately, the EDP has struggled with making its pro-European message heard in Europe. Therefore it is a positive development to now have three Executive Vice Presidents from different European countries in addition to our President François Bayrou from France. Together we will carry our pro-European efforts into the regions.”
François Bayrou re-elected as EDP President
The European Democratic Party (EDP), a centrist European political party, gathered on Friday 29 November in Paris (France) for its Council meeting. Besides Müller, former Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta and Basque politician Andoni Ortuzar were elected Executive Vice Presidents. During this Council, representatives of Democrat political parties from sixteen Member States unanimously re-elected François Bayrou as President of the European Democratic Party.
Marielle de Sarnez, Secretary General of the European Democratic Party, highlighted: "We must be vigilant and we, European democrats, should be at the initiative or participate in this democratic refoundation, which is more than vital for democracy and for Europe.”
The European Democratic Party is a trans-national political movement, which intends to build a European democracy fixed in the shared values of peace, freedom, solidarity and education.
