CASwell CAR-3080 Intel Select Solution for uCPE with CentOS

High-end 1U rackmount system based on Intel Xeon D-2177NT processor is the optimal platform for compute, storage and networking

Taipei, Taiwan – November 21st, 2019 – CASwell, a leading manufacturer of innovative and high-performance uCPE/vCPE and Cloud/NFV systems, is currently preparing to launch its CAR-3080 Intel Select Solution for uCPE with CentOS in the highest-performance Plus configuration, which delivers a real-time extension patch and offers excellent "local cloud for network services" for its customers. This system is ready to deploy for all use-cases and network virtualization functions while providing verified high-end performance.

The CASwell CAR-3080 rackmount appliance, a verified Intel Select Solution for uCPE with CentOS, was developed for multi-access edge computing and can be used for high-end computing with multiple virtual network functionality and software-defined networking while also offering the ability for holding high-capacity storage. As an Intel Select Solution for uCPE with CentOS, the CASwell CAR-3080 brings the powerful performance of Intel Xeon D-2177NT processor to the network edge as part of a workload-optimized hardware and software stack that offers verified performance. The compact 1U device platform easily fits into any rackmount cabinet and includes PCI Express 3.0 (PCIe 3.0) for easy upgrades.

While the CASwell CAR-3080, based on the Intel Xeon D-2177NT processor with 14 CPU cores supporting Hyper-Threading for 28 parallel threads, 64 GByte DDR4-2667 main memory, Intel SSD DC S4510 with 512 GByte and four 10-Gbit Intel Ethernet ports, is already verified as an Intel Select Solution for uCPE Plus configuration, the solution will be going through verification with the CentOS update with an target to become commercially available early next year.

The Intel Xeon processor D-2177NT comes with integrated Intel QuickAssist Technology (Intel QAT). Intel QAT accelerates encrypted data traffic in a secure network, reduces overall data size and lowers storage demands by speeding real-time compression while at the same time offloading the CPU of some of the processing workloads.

CentOS is one of the most appealing operating systems right now among professional companies looking for an open and sophisticated Linux platform because it's based on the popular Red Hat distribution while being available free of charge and backed by a big, knowledgable community. This makes systems like the CASwell CAR-3080 Intel Select Plus Solution for uCPE with CentOS with real-time extension patch one of the best choices for service providers, network operators and enterprises of almost all industry sectors.

"Having our CAR-3080 officially verified as an Intel Select Solution for uCPE on CentOS by our trusted and long-standing partner Intel is another example of our efforts in developing multi-purpose high-performance solutions for our customers and the market looking for reliable and open network edge systems," says Reaforl Hung, president of CASwell.
