MSU INSTALLS E-GUIDETV IN COLLEGE CAMPUS HOUSING
16,000 Michigan State students now have access to real-time TV listings information, making channel surfing a cinch.Apr 20, 2011, Arlington, Texas —Michigan State University (MSU) recently installed E-GuideTV, the popular onscreen television guide provided by E-Guide Services (EGS), into over 11,000 dorm rooms across the MSU campus. More than 16,000 MSU students living on campus now have access to real-time TV listings.
The installation and implementation of the E-GuideTV channel in MSU dorms was a conscious effort made by the administration to create a more “home-like” experience for their students living in dorms, sorority and fraternity houses, apartments, etc.
The prominent in-room television guide displays real-time TV channel listings customized specifically to MSU’s channel lineup and only displays channels available to the students, making channel surfing simple and convenient.
E-GuideTV provides MSU students with a multitude of benefits by offering two hours of forward-looking TV programming information color-coded for easy program navigation. The TV channel guide also provides students with the exact time and date as a convenient and friendly reminder and boasts green and white Spartan pride, showcasing the MSU logo in the top left corner.
“We are excited to add MSU to our list of satisfied clients,” said Christopher S. Stark Sr., president and chief executive officer of EGS. “I believe providing students with the tools they need in-room to relax, unwind and make them feel at home is essential to their well being and overall academic performance. We are glad that E-GuideTV is helping turn on-campus housing into more of a home-away-from-home experience.”
It is not just the students and administration that show excitement for this new, useful information tool. Advertisers are ecstatic over the ability to reach students interacting with the guide.
“We are thrilled with the addition of MSU to the rapidly growing E-GuideTV network. Advertisers looking to reach the elusive 18-24 age demographic now have an excellent opportunity to reach them in the very place they spend most of their free time, their dormitory or apartment,” said Jay Spence, Vice President of Advertising Sales at EGS. “Advertising on E-GuideTV is targeted, cost-effective and delivers a high ROI.”
Why are advertisers excited about reaching these students? According to Advertising Age Daily, students entering college make up $47 billion in annual spending. E-GuideTV provides local and national advertisers the exciting opportunity to directly interact with, and sway, the spending decisions of over 16,000 students making buying decisions daily.
Advertisers who work with E-GuideTV can direct their customized messages on a daily basis through targeted, interactive entertainment in the form of various advertising spots, streaming video segments, bar coding (quick response “QR” codes) and much more.
E-GuideTV is currently found in 117,495 rooms that include hotels and resorts, universities, MDUs, hospitals, cruise lines and military bases and reaches more than 3 million consumers monthly.
