SEI Now Offering Solar Business and Technical Sales Training

Carbondale, Colorado – United States – August 2, 2011 – Colorado-based Solar Energy International, known for solar certification and technical training in renewable energy, has added a solar business and technical sales training class to their already extensive list of courses available this year. It is designed specifically for those who are interested in going into the sales and marketing end of the solar energy industry, as opposed to working in a technical capacity. In a statement released this morning from their main campus in Carbondale, a spokesperson for SEI explained how this course is another piece in their goal to involve more young people in the evolution of renewable energy.

“SEI is focused on spreading the word about employment and career opportunities in the renewable energy sector,” said the company spokesperson. “We’ve been offering NABCEP certification courses and solar installation training for some time now. Now we can also offer sales and marketing training for those who want to get into the field, but don’t want to work in a technical capacity. After evaluating the input from those who inquired at our free introductory courses this year, we thought that now would be a good time to start offering this course – listed as PV206 in our catalog.”

In November 2010, SEI began offering a free course called RE 100: Intro to Renewable Energy. It was created to spark interest in their paid renewable energy courses and also as a vehicle to do market research on what students wanted in the way of new courses. The sales and marketing training is one of the areas where SEI needed to add more components. Students not technically-inclined did show interest in being able to sell renewable technology and help expand companies looking to grow in what at the time was a very difficult economic environment. This was seen as a top priority by SEI.

“Renewable energy is the best hope for the future, but what happens here in the present will determine whether it’s successful or not,” said the company spokesperson. “Offering sales and marketing training now will help make that future a little brighter. The technology for energy efficient and cost-effective solar and wind is available, even without government subsidies. The industry just needs someone to sell that technology to those who can benefit from it. In a few months, we’ll have more men and women with training who will be able to do that. That should help the solar industry to finally be more competitive with oil and natural gas.”
