Engineering Seats to Economically weaker sections

SCT Institute of Technology, an engineering college in Bangalore, has reserved a few seats for students whose parents’ income from all sources is less than Rs.2,40,000/- per annum. Seats in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Information Science & Engineering will be allotted to eligible candidates (Min of 45% marks in MPC on aggregate at 10+2 / PUC and annual income as stated above) on first-come-first-serve basis at Govt. approved fees. There will be ‘NO DONATION’ or ‘CAPITATION FEE’.
This is an exemplary step taken by the college on face of high paid donation for engineering admissions. The college spokes person said “We believe that every deserving candidate should get, a chance to pursue higher studies, regardless his/her economic status”. We hope these kinds of steps could curb the donation practice in education sector and create an environment of equal opportunity.
