BackupChain Review Prompts Development of New Hyper-V Disaster Recovery Feature

With over ten years in the corporate data backup business, FastNeuron has expanded into the consumer backup market with its BackupChain brand, specializing in disaster recovery for Windows Servers and virtualization platforms, such as VMware, VirtualBox, and Microsoft Hyper-V Server. After celebrating its 20,000th server protected with FastNeuron software, the company researched ways to further improve the software. A thorough analysis of customer BackupChain reviews and suggestions led BackupChain developers to augment their product with a new Hyper-V disaster recovery feature.

The new version of BackupChain includes a “Single-Click, Automatic Hyper-V Backup” feature that fully automates backup and restore of virtual machines, including the recovery of Hyper-V snapshots. This new feature builds upon the existing and popular BackupChain Hyper-V backup functionality, which enables businesses to create economic and speedy backups through its deduplication and data compression engine. Supporting a variety of backup formats, full CPU core utilization, and incremental and differential deduplication, the new version cuts configuration time short by offering a new backup and restore wizard for Microsoft Hyper-V. Server administrators may now back up, restore, and even clone Hyper-V virtual machines by simply selecting them from a list.

With full support for Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) and Storage Area Networks (SAN), BackupChain is fully equipped to handle the loads of Hyper-V data centers, for example in a web hosting environment. FastNeuron’ s Marketing Manager Melissa Weekly explains: “Cluster Shared Volumes are no longer a luxury for big multinational corporations. The decreasing costs of SAN and NAS devices as well as host servers make cluster shared volumes more feasible than before. In particular, backups are becoming more complicated to manage. The new software version was further improved to use fewer resources and generate smaller backup files in a shorter time period. In addition, many enhancements were made to improve remote backup over the Internet and over local-area networks for large file servers and virtual machines. These improvements make Hyper-V FTP backups more feasible and efficient than ever and position BackupChain amongst the leaders in off-site disaster recovery technology.
