Press release from: SGS

ETICS, the European Testing Inspection and Certification System, has accepted SGS’s laboratory in Guangzhou, China as an ENEC Testing Laboratory (TL) to test luminaires and control equipment.

ENEC Scheme membership means that the Guangzhou laboratory joins the global network of four TLs operating under the supervision of SGS Fimko Ltd (Finland), the certification body.

ENEC, a European Mark for electrical products, demonstrates compliance with European standards (ENs), mainly related to safety. It is complementary to the mandatory CE marking on electrical products placed on the European market and, being granted by a third party that is independent of the manufacturer or importer, signifies products are safe in accordance with European directives.

Tom Törn, Certification Director, SGS said: "ENEC means safety in Europe, and as a signatory of the ENEC Mark Scheme we actively support its commitment to the highest safety levels.

“SGS is recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity and this expansion of our capability will ensure we are even better placed to help those within the industry trade with the confidence and assurance needed in the global marketplace.”

As an ENEC Scheme member, SGS’s Guangzhou TL (SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co. Ltd. Guangzhou Branch) can carry out product testing based on which SGS Fimko Ltd can certify products, and issue ENEC Certificates, granting EE manufacturers and brands the right to use the ENEC Mark, against:

• Safety requirements of luminaires (EN 60598-1, EN 60598-2-1, EN 60598-2-2, EN 60598-2-3, EN 60598-2-4, EN 60598-2-5, EN 60598-2-22, EN 60598-2-24, EN 61347-1, EN 61347-2-11, EN 61347-2-13, EN 62031, EN 62384, EN 62776)
• Safety requirements for automatic electrical controls: EN 60730-1, in particular timers and time switches (EN 60730-2-7) and temperature sensing control (EN 60730-2-9)
