Mechanics of Patent Drafting (US, India)

Mechanics of Patent Drafting (2 Weeks full-time) program starting from 26th September 2011 is designed to train participants in the art and skill of patent drafting. The ‘Gems of Wisdom’ and ‘Absolute Rules’ in claim drafting are often required by the amateurs as well as professionals will be shared and practiced as part of the ‘hands-on’ training and practical sessions.

The training will be through interactive sessions with Trainers (IP Attorneys, Experts and Practitioners) including group discussions, self learning exercises, simulations, case studies/scenario exercises. The objective is to promote a collaborative learning environment with constant inputs and feedback from the learners. Wherever possible, the focus will be on ‘real world’ problems and probable solution strategies. The focus will be to deliver content that can help conceptual understanding and practical application of critical content in a relatively short period of time.

The program will cover interviewing the inventor, Establishing the point of novelty, Drafting the broadest claims, Claiming beyond the broadest claim , Drafting dependent claims, Critiquing the claims, Writing the Preamble and how to use it, Different types of claims , Writing specification, Patent Drawings & Writing skills, Salient features to Life Sciences and Non-Life Sciences claims, Assignments and Case studies.

Graduates, Post Graduates with Science, Engineering are eligible for the program. Participants should possess good communication and writing skills, should be capable of understanding technical concepts and processes. At the same time, they should possess basic understanding of the patent laws and procedures.
