Thompson & Knight Expands Trial Practice in New York
New York (July 27, 2011) – The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce the addition of accomplished litigator George F. Hritz as Counsel in the Firm’s New York office. Hritz brings a prominent litigation and arbitration practice to the Firm’s expanding operations in New York City.“We are thrilled to have George join our growing practice in New York,” says Philip J. Kessler, the Firm’s New York Office Leader. “His impressive credentials and experience in important litigation and arbitration matters significantly enhance our ability to meet clients’ needs in the U.S. and globally.”
Hritz focuses his practice on litigation, arbitration and other types of dispute resolution. With more than 35 years of experience, he has tried, managed, and otherwise resolved large-scale disputes for major financial institutions and other well-known companies in numerous industries and venues throughout the U.S. and overseas. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association Panel of Arbitrators and has been named to the New York Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters.
Hritz is also Co-Founder, Board Chairman, and Legal Counsel for Princeton in Africa, an independent, university-related organization that develops young leaders committed to Africa’s advancement. He also serves as a Board Member and former Counsel and General Counsel of the International Rescue Committee in New York, where he has advised on international legal, governmental, and other issues involving refugee relief programs in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He has traveled on board delegations and other business to Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Zaire, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, Kosovo, and Macedonia, as well as U.S. locations.
Prior to joining Thompson & Knight, Hritz served as a Partner at Hogan Lovells LLP and predecessor firms, including Hogan & Hartson, from 1980-2010. His experience also includes serving as Associate Independent Counsel in Washington, D.C., where he handled grand jury and trial proceedings involving a government investigation and federal prosecution on government ethics-related issues. He was also Special Counsel on the Korean Influence Inquiry from 1977-1978 for the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee and served as a Law Clerk to Honorable John R. Bartels in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
