Bona Law PC, A Boutique Antitrust Law Firm, Launches New Minneapolis Office

Bona Law PC, a national and international antitrust law firm with offices in San Diego and New York, announced today that it will expand its physical presence into the Midwest by opening an office in downtown Minneapolis.

Bona Law is a small boutique that offers big-law quality and boasts a team of experienced litigators and advisors, many of whom went to top law schools, clerked for federal judges, and worked at international law firms such as Gibson Dunn, Sidley Austin, and DLA Piper. The firm now competes with those big law firms to provide representation and advice on antitrust litigation, distribution issues, merger clearances, and appeals with greater flexibility and a focus on value.

The firm’s Minneapolis launch is led by Aaron Gott and Luke Hasskamp, Bona Law partners who are licensed to practice in both California and Minnesota.

Gott, who previously worked at the firm’s San Diego office, began his law career in Minnesota. He is a top-rated antitrust lawyer who focuses on antitrust litigation, complex business litigation, challenges to government conduct, and appeals. Gott is one of the nation’s leading lawyers on issues involving antitrust litigation against state and local government entities and has served as lead counsel in several high-profile antitrust cases. He is also a combat veteran who served nearly ten years in the U.S. Army.

Hasskamp is a Minnesota native who recently joined Bona Law. He previously worked at Robins Kaplan in Minneapolis and Kanner & Whiteley in New Orleans where he focused on business litigation and appeals. He also has extensive federal trial and appellate court experience, having served as a judicial clerk for three federal judges: Kermit E. Bye of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, Manuel L. Real of the Central District of California, and Robert G. James of the Western District of Louisiana. Hasskamp has litigated numerous antitrust, class action, and civil RICO cases. In addition to litigating business disputes and appellate matters, Hasskamp enjoys writing on topics such as appellate procedural issues and baseball and the law.

Bona Law has strong ties to Minnesota. The firm’s CEO, Jarod Bona, is a Minnesota native who clerked for Judge James B. Loken of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in Minneapolis and worked at an international firm in Minneapolis before moving to San Diego. He maintains an inactive-status license in Minnesota. He considers Minnesota a second home and is, of course, loyal to its sports teams.

The firm chose Minneapolis because of its vibrant community, thriving business environment, and its lawyers’ outsized personal connections to the state. By expanding its physical presence into the Midwest, it will better serve its clients and meet its current and prospective litigation and counseling demands.
