Photoworld Celebrates 50 Years of Business

Warwick, United Kingdom (18 July, 2011) - Photoworld, one of Europe's largest photo companies, celebrates its 50th year of business in July.

Photoworld, part of the hugely successful photo finishers, Cewe Color, began business in 1961 in Oldenburg, Germany. Within only a few years, the company constructed a photo printing lab with a 4,000 square metre production area during the transition from black & white to colour photography. Throughout the 1970s, Cewe Color began to break into other market places in Europe, whilst becoming the leading industrial colour lab in Germany.

Throughout the 1980s, Cewe Color then developed photo printing labs in Paris, Berlin and Munich, with a total of 11 industrial labs in Europe by the close of the decade. The 1990s saw Cewe Color reach a photo development record of 2.1 billion whilst embracing the trend for digital photography. In the first decade of the 21st century, Cewe Color achieved monumental success with their photo books, holds numerous respected awards and is regarded as the leading provider of four-colour digital printing services.
