1 In 2 Millennials Are Online Almost Constantly, New Study By Aeon Ads Finds.
Millennials today are very much accustomed to the use of social media far more than baby boomers are. They grew up with these platforms. Their desire to always be connected played a pivotal role in the explosive growth of social and the transformation of the marketing industry. The research discovered that around 4 in 10 teenagers say they feel pressure to only post content on social media that makes them look good to others. These emotions seem to influence their decision-making process thus making the small mobile screen the future of advertising. The most popular platforms are YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Snapchat and Twitter with YouTube fast becoming the second largest search engine after Google.A couple of other interesting finds were that most people think you simply can’t compete in today’s business environment if you are not computer savvy. You must have the ability to effectively write, produce and communicate in a digital environment. Moreover, they like the plethora of choices in today’s information-saturated world, but 20% feel overloaded. How we receive the information we are looking for has changed. We now spend more time on our cellphones than any other device. These numbers along with streaming content will only grow with time. Short bursts of information will eventually replace traditional media as generations and demographics shift. In 10 years Gen Z and Millennials put together will make up the majority of the voting age population.
