Interview Ty Harrelson - former professional basketball player & Christian Haas - CEO Fundsback

Christian Haas: Hi Ty thank you very much for taking some time for our interview. It is a
pleasure for me to talk to you today. You have played Basketball in Germany between 2005
and 2010 for BBC Bayreuth, TV Langen, and Osnabrueck. Please tell us something about
your time in Germany.

Christian Haas: What did you like most in Germany?
Ty Harrelson: I really enjoyed the culture and friendships that I made over the years. I was
lucky enough to get the opportunity to play with great teammates and coaches. Germany will
always be a special place to me because of the fans and friends I was able to meet. I spent
a large part of my professional basketball career there and I hope to return for a visit soon.

Christian Haas: Could you tell please why you decided to come to Germany and in what
position you played for Bayreuth and Langen?
Ty Harrelson: My desire to play basketball in Europe initially led me to Germany. I mostly
played PG during my career.

Christian Haas: Are you still playing or what are you doing currently?
Ty Harrelson: I am currently the Men’s Basketball Coach at Wayland Baptist University
where I played in college before going to Europe. Our team won the conference
championship last year and was voted the conference Coach of the Year for the first time in
school history. After Germany, I found success in Australia but stopped playing full time in
2015 as I transitioned to full-time coaching.

Christian Haas: Congratulations on winning the championship. Please tell us your favourite
team in the USA and in Germany?
Ty Harrelson: I have always been a San Antonio Spurs fan and my favourite team in
Germany is Medi Bayreuth.

Christian Haas: I think many fans in Germany also like the San Antonio Spurs.
Christian Haas: Let´s change the topic. Do you think all players from USA or Canada, who
are playing in Germany, are informed about the possibility of getting back their own paid
pension contributions?
Ty Harrelson: No, I think there would be a large group of players who do not realize that
they are eligible to receive the contributions. It is important to find these players and make
sure that they receive the funds because basketball is their job while in Germany and
securing contributions will help them in the future.

Christian Haas: Fundsback contacted you to manage the complicated process of the

Ty Harrelson: A former colleague contacted me about receiving my pension through

Christian Haas: What would you recommend your friends who played or who are still
