Press release from: Bidpath

UK – Leading celebrity auctioneer and owner of Hansons Auctioneers, Charles Hanson, has launched his new live bidding service for bidders. After three trial auctions on the platform, empowered by Bidpath’s online bidding technology, Charles Hanson and his team have been delighted with the results.

Hansons Auctioneers operate from three bidding locations in Derbyshire, Staffordshire and London, including the recently acquired, and exceptionally impressive, Bishton Hall. The fast-growing auction house hold an impressive calendar of more than 100 auctions per annum across 20 departments covering all areas of Fine Art, Antiques and Collectables. Bishton Hall was built by John Sparrow, a banker, in the late eighteenth century. It was in use for more than 70 years as St. Bede’s Preparatory and Nursery School until the school was forced to close in August last year.

Their first live Fine Art auction was held on Monday 12th August in London and was followed by two live auctions in Derbyshire held on Thursday 22nd and Tuesday 27th August, selling Sporting Memorabilia and Historica and Metal Detecting discoveries respectively. By the final live auction almost half of all online lots by volume were sold through their in-house platform, Hansonslive.

Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said after the first auction: “We're delighted to launch our own online bidding platform which enables us to offer our buyers a significant 4% reduction in online bidding costs. We’re keen to use the very latest technology available to enhance our business and offer our clients a bespoke service that will save them money. The Bidpath team worked alongside our IT experts to deliver this solution. We held our first auction using the Hansonslive bidding platform on August 12 and look forward to expanding the service across all of our sales."

David Brindley, President of Bidpath commented: “We’ve been delighted to welcome Hansons Auctioneers in to the Bidpath fold this month, alongside a number of other leading regional auctioneers. 2019 has seen a lot of auctioneers looking for an alternative to using third-party marketplaces as their internet service providers. Auctioneers and their clients are becoming increasing concerned with the inflated costs for using a marketplace service, and are looking to reinvest that money in a digital marketing campaign to support their own brand, drive engaged buyers to their website and give them true data ownership.”

At Hansons Auctioneers we thrive on history and making memories.

For more than 12 years, our team of specialist and general valuers have helped both vendors and buyers embrace this journey and discover something truly amazing.

At the heart of Hansons, we are driven by the question, ‘If an object could talk, what would it tell us?’
From truly amazing pieces to family heirlooms and old collectables, every single item is a unique piece of history and we can’t wait to help you discover its story and the memories behind it.

Injecting a personal touch – and a little bit of love – into everything we do, we’re passionate about teasing out the sentiment, personal history and emotions attached to every object we auction. By bringing these stories to life, we add a sense of wonder and joy to the mundane and see every day as another opportunity to find something new and unexpected.

Whether you want to embrace the story around a cherished family heirloom or rescue unknown treasures from a lifetime of being trapped in a box, we can’t wait to see what might be hidden in your home. By helping to tell forgotten stories, everyone who places a bid at Hansons can guarantee that they’re not just buying an object, but their own little piece of history.

We want our clients from all over the world to come to us with a sense of excitement, leave with a smile on their face and be part of the Hansons community, because it’s a very happy place which leaves a positive mark on the world around us.
