Press release from: Learning Path Education

Watertown, MA, July 5, 2011 –Learning Path Education, an organization dedicated to enhancing the leadership qualities of teen-aged individuals, today has announced a series of local workshops for 15-18 year olds.

“Many of the personal development workshops available today are tailored to adults that are already in a leadership-type role, usually within a corporation,” states company founder, Michael Dattoli. “The reality however, is that adults in supervisory roles are often the most resistant to changing their perspectives and behaviors towards great leadership. Providing these skills to individuals before they enter college or the workforce is crucial as it enables our youth to put leadership behaviors into practice from the very start of their independent life.”

Dattoli, a former leadership trainer for a global sales organization, was inspired to create youth-aged leadership workshops based on his previous experience working as a paraprofessional in Watertown, Belmont, and Amherst schools. “Although there are some remarkable programs and initiatives available that provide leadership opportunities to adolescents,” Dattoli mentioned, “the average student in New England receives zero hours of organized curriculum aimed at developing personal leadership competencies.”

Helping youth-aged individuals to better understand their leadership potential is an important trend being recognized throughout the country, including many elementary schools in Michigan and Kentucky that have begun incorporating Leader in Me curriculum.

In addition to facilitating two-day leadership workshops, Learning Path Education will also run a series of one-day programs aimed at improving a teenager’s communication effectiveness. “Communication and leadership go hand in hand,” Dattoli added, “and effective communication is a large component of the two-day leadership course, however we also made it available as a one-day, stand-alone program.”

Learning Path Education is currently scheduled to run nine workshops throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire during the upcoming months. Maximum participation in each group will be twelve students plus one facilitator. The two-day leadership course will cover topics related to building deeper relationships, overcoming peer pressure, and effectively communicating with others.
