Virginia Nursing Student Awarded $1000 National Scholarship
Caroline "Autumn" Carlson
The 2019 nursing scholarship was awarded to student Caroline “Autumn” Carlson. Ms. Carlson is enrolled at Liberty University’s nursing program located in Lynchburg, VA. Autumn’s thesis described the burn out feeling experienced in the nursing sector. “It is possible to alleviate the “burn out” feeling that professionals experience in the field of nursing,” stated Ms. Carlson. “Working to improve nurses’ emotional intelligence is one of the best ways to prevent the epidemic of burnout and decrease the negative effects that this problem creates.”
Platinum’s goal is to provide students entering the EMS, nursing, and allied health fields with assistance in funding their education. Former high school teacher, paramedic, and now Platinum CEO Doug Smith states, “With the rising costs of tuition and program fees, it’s an honor to assist others in embarking on the dream of providing needed healthcare services to our communities.”
