Mr. M. Vaqaruddin has joined Pak-Qatar General Takaful Limited, Pakistan as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. M. Vaqaruddin brings with him 27 years of experience of General Insurance Operations, Sales and Marketing to this position. He has worked in various senior positions in leading local, American and British Insurance Companies. He was the General Manager of Commercial Union Assurance at the time of its merger with NJI in 2003. He is a science graduate, an MBA, an ACII & a Chartered Insurer.

Pak-Qatar General Takaful Limited is an Islamic General Insurance Company which is in the process of launching its operations in Pakistan. Its shareholders include H.E. Sh. Ali Bin Abdullah Al Thani (member of the Royal Family of the State of Qatar), Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), Qatar Islamic Insurance Company (QIIC), and other Qatari and Pakistani sponsors. QIIB's assets as on 31st December 2006 are US$2.31 billion while shareholders equity stands as US$392.28 million. QIIC is the pioneer of Islamic Insurance in Qatar whose shareholders equity stands US$65 million as at 31st December 2006.
