An airborne LiDAR is an instrument that aids in the acquisition of accurate and impenetrable topographic data at a high speed. It is mounted on helicopters, drones, aircrafts, and other airborne vehicles. The LiDAR emits rapid pulses at up to 150,000 pulses per second at the ground surface. A sensor then detects the amount of time taken for each pulse to be bounced back from the ground surface. This helps LiDAR systems to provide a 3D laser profiling and scanning. The LiDAR technique has also been used to generate Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Digital Terrain Model (DTM), as well as, Digital Surface Model (DSM).
