UK launch #barkingbandanas
Willow - winner of the dog with the waggiest tail prize
Today Green & Roses, a pop-up not-for-profit based in the heart of Bermondsey South East London and Witnesham Suffolk launches its #barkingbandanas promotion.
It features a DOG a day on social media wearing its bandana.
The #barkingbandanas campaign aims to grow awareness of Green & Roses and its first supplier Global Mamas.
This summer all products are being sold at cost with a small 20% uplift to offset some of the shipping costs.
Campaign objectives
• To grow a Green & Roses market
• To SHARE a PASSION for quality African products
• To have FUN: people love their dogs. The bandanas £3 – so should be no barrier to join in.
• To get FEEDBACK
What Green & Roses sells
It sells handcrafted handmade batiks using traditional artisan techniques including:
- BABIES and KIDS clothes;
- SHIRTS (adults and kids) and boxer shorts;
- TABLECLOTHS and APRONS (kids and adults);
- SMALL THINGS sarongs, yoga bags, makeup bags, pencil cases, gift bags)
- BANDANAS for pets/kids/adults and dog leads.
Sales are via its ETSY shop, direct sales, at home, at markets and fairs. Mostly Green & Roses has been at Framlingham Market in Suffolk.

Green & Roses - founder Tanya Green
After training as a lawyer, Tanya was a chef at London’s River Cafe. She then worked at The Gaia Foundation with among others the inspirational Kenyan human and environmental rights activist and Nobel Prize winner Professor Wangari Maathai. She is now a civil servant and works on innovation in social and community action at The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
Tanya discovered Global Mamas on a work trip in 2014 and she fell in love with the products and wanted to bring them to a UK market. She has been selective and chosen designs she loves – going for SIMPLE-BOLD-DESIGNS: e.g. the deep indigo and elephant print on shirts and aprons; pink birds on dresses and bathrobes or blue sailing themed kids shirts, robes and dresses.
