Dissertation - Fluoride-Damaged Teeth & Cavities Increasing

07-29-2019 03:21 PM CET | Health & Medicine

Press release from: New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc.

A 2016 dissertation by Behbehani, based on US federal statistics, reports that 57% of 6-19 year-olds have dental fluorosis (white spotted, yellow, brown and/or pitted teeth) which occurs when too much fluoride is ingested while children's teeth are forming.(1) However, despite this fluoride overdose, "There was a significant increase in caries (cavities) experience," Behbehani reports.

Water fluoridation began with the promise that it would reduce tooth decay drastically with little or no dental fluorosis. But that hasn't happened.

Organized dentistry convinces legislators fluorosis is attractive or hardly noticable when lobbying for mandatory fluoridation. But individual dentists make money, usually not reimbursed by insurance, covering up unsightly fluorosis as these advertisements attest to (2)

Virtually the only fluoride source was fluoridation when it began in 1945 with the "guarantee" that only 10% would suffer the mildest, without any moderate or severe, fluorosis which is actually seen today. The CDC reported in 2010 that at least 3% is moderate or severe.

Senator Bernie Sanders declared a dental crisis in America in 2012 (3)

There is no dispute that too much fluoride damages bones and children's teeth. The concentration of fluoride in water doesn't equte to individual dose from all sources.

Today, unknown amounts of fluoride are delivered to virtually every American via the water, food supply, dental products, air pollution and/or medicines.

In 2003, researchers Levy et al. analyzed the the fluoride content of some foods. (4) For example:

- Processed chicken contained 4.4 parts per millionn (ppm) and 10.0 ppm fluoride

- Cereals: 3.8 to 6.3 ppm

- Creamed spinach: 2 ppm

- Soft drinks: up to 1.55 ppm

- Decaffeinated tea: 3.19 ppm

- White grape juice: 4 ppm

- Ready-to-feed infant formula: from 0.15 to 0.30 ppm

Attempts to reduce fluorosis rates have failed, including lowering infant formula fluoride levels, lowering supplement dosages several times , advising toddlers use fluoride-free toothpaste or pea-sized dabs of fluoridated toothpaste without swallowing, avoiding the routine mixing of fluoridated water into infant formula and lowering artificially fluoridated water levels.

Fluoride is neither a nutrient nor essential for dental health. It would make better sense to stop adding fluoride into all Americans via the water supply so individuals can be better monitored for their fluoride intake if they choose to eat fluoride.

"Politics, not science, supports fluoridation – which is delivering risks without benefits. Fluoridation is a sacred cow connected to the political viability of organized dentistry and the legislators they influence and the money-interests that benefit . People need to contact their elected officials and demand fluoridation be stopped and de-funded," says attorney Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. Fluoridation's Unhappy Birthday
New York – January 25 -- Sixty-three years ago, January 25, 1945, sodium fluoride was slowly poured into Grand Rapids, Michigan’s public water supply to prove that fluoridation reduces children’s tooth decay. Nearby Muskegon was left fluoridation-free as the experiment’s control city for comparison purposes. The study failed; but early fluoridationists ignored this inconvenient truth. Named a “demonstration project” so as not to alarm residents about what was actually occurring, the experiment
Fluoridation Doing More Harm Than Good, Studies Show
New York – May 2007 – Contrary to belief, fluoridation is damaging teeth with little cavity reduction, according to a review of recent studies reported in Clinical Oral Investigations.(1) Pizzo and colleagues reviewed English-language fluoridation studies published from January 2001 to June 2006 and write, “Several epidemiological studies conducted in fluoridated and non-fluoridated communities suggest that [fluoridation] may be unnecessary for caries prevention…” They also report that fluoride-damaged teeth spiked upwards to
CDC: Beware Fluoride!
New York -- January 19, 2007 -- Without fanfare or public announcement, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) posted a new fluoride caution on their website - avoid mixing fluoridated water into concentrated infant formula to prevent discoloring babies’ new teeth. (1) There is no dispute that too much fluoride causes dental fluorosis - white spotted, yellow or brown and sometimes pitted enamel. The CDC now admits that babies can
Take Precaution - Stop Fluoridation
The Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice shows how the Precautionary Principle applies to fluoridation. (1) “Some studies have raised concerns about the safety and efficacy of the practice [fluoridation],” write authors Tickner and Coffin of the Lowell, Massachusetts, Center for Sustainable Production. Precautionary Principle: “When an activity raises threats of harm to human health or the environment, precautionary measures should be taken even if some cause and effect relationships are
