Bangalore: MS Ramaiah University records 100% placement in 1st batch of railway signaling PG Diploma

The 1st batch of PG diploma program in railway signaling and telecommunications engineering at MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences Bangalore (MSRUAS) has secured 100% campus placement in this academic year. This program is being run in collaboration with RailwayAcademy which is Asia’s top training company in railways.

As many as 9 students of the railway signaling program, who became eligible to appear for written tests and interviews held as part of the placement process, have received offers from leading railway signaling companies in India and abroad.

“It is a proud moment that within first year itself the placement status of the course in Bangalore has touched the 100% mark. Five graduates have been recruited by Railtel a leading PSU company in railways” said Mr. Sumit Kanu, Director of Railway Academy. Students have got job offers from Siemens, Hitachi, Texmaco and Kalindi Rail and have been posted across india in upcoming metro railway projects.

The graduates will join the companies as graduate engineers and are considered equivalent to one year experience holders. The average salary is around ₹4 lakh a year.

With the rise of metro projects, smart cities and railway modernization, there is a significant increase in demand for skilled railway signaling engineers in country. The students undergo ten months of rigorous training by industry professionals in Bangalore campus. They are provided industry and practical exposure through visits and onsite training which equips them on practical aspects of railway signaling.

The university has opened admission for its third batch and classes shall start in august 2019. Only engineers with a four year Btech/B.E are eligible for this course.

We started our first batch in April2017. We got 6 students in our first batch from different states like Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and it was really a diverse mix of culture and experiance.

The 2nd batch garnered 11 students and again we had more diverse PAN India mix. We had freshers on one hand and experienced railway professionals with more than 5 years in the batch. It was quite a challenge keeping pace and level of curriculum to meet the expectations of all yet our railway experts and university faculty stood up well and excelled in providing best of railway education and exposure possible.

Our academic journey encompassed company visits, rigorous industry focussed training, mentoring from railway experts and hands on exposure of railway signaling. With the kind support of IRSE INDIA SECTION, our initiative was welcomed in industry and supported at all levels of railway industry.
