Press release from: CONRIC PR & Marketing

Oasis Senior Advisors is continuing its work to preserve family heritage through its support for a new PBS series. Family Pictures USA explores American cities, towns and rural communities through the lens of the family photo album, unearthing rich personal stories that expand our understanding of our shared history, diversity and common values. The Bonita Springs, Florida-based senior living assistance provider is proud to serve as a national underwriter of the show that premieres Monday, Aug. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on PBS stations across the country.

“We’re absolutely over the moon to be working with Oasis,” show creator and host Thomas Allen Harris said. “We couldn’t imagine a more fitting partner for what we’re both doing.”

Oasis Senior Advisors provides compassionate, personalized senior living assistance at no cost to seniors and their families. Advisors at nearly 100 franchises nationwide help navigate the maze of senior housing options to identify the right fit for each individual.

Each episode of Family Pictures USA begins at a community photo-sharing event where people present images long stored in photo albums or stashed away in dusty boxes. Using these pictures as a starting point, Harris engages participants in conversation, guiding them through stories of hardship, perseverance and love. The series then goes on location in their communities to expand these family narratives into a deeply personal people’s history of the region.

“This program gets at the heart of why so many people seek out our free service for seniors and their families,” Oasis Senior Advisors CEO Tim Evankovich said. “People cherish the family members who came before them and want to preserve and honor the way they’ve lived their lives.”

The debut episode of Family Pictures USA takes a trip to North Carolina, where viewers will discover how the historically rural state built on tobacco and textiles is rapidly changing. On Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. EDT, the scene shifts to Detroit, America’s comeback city, where family narratives and memories expand viewers’ understanding of a nuanced cultural epicenter. That same night at 9 p.m. EDT, the series heads to the paradise coast of Southwest Florida, home to the growing city of Fort Myers as well as ranchers, Native Americans and fishing communities.

For Southwest Florida viewers, an additional studio-based local episode will air on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10 p.m. EDT on WGCU, the PBS source for Southwest Florida, and the World Channel nationwide on Friday, Aug. 23 at 8:30 p.m. EDT. This special circles back for a heartfelt reunion with the community.
