Stevens-Henager College’s Medical Specialties Program Accredited by CAAHEP

Salt Lake City, Utah, June 16, 2011 - Stevens-Henager College is proud to announce that its Associate of Occupational Studies in Medical Specialties program at its Logan, Provo/Orem, and Ogden/West Haven campuses is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP, caahep.org) upon recommendation of the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (CRB-AAMAE). The largest accreditor of health science programs, CAAHEP is a member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

By being granted accreditation from the CAAHEP, Stevens-Henager College’s medical specialties program meets the commission’s stringent standards, and is considered to have the resources, ability, and dedication required to produce skilled, knowledgeable, and qualified graduates.

The Associate of Occupational Studies in Medical Specialties program is designed to equip students with a wide and solid base of practical and theoretical training to give them the confidence and experience they need to pursue success in this profession. The course curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including nursing assistance, computerized medical and pharmaceutical systems, medical terminology, drug administration, anatomy and physiology, radiology, and ECGs, as well as psychology, law and ethics, logic, communication arts, and more. The program also offers students the opportunity to pursue an externship, in order to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

The duration of the degree program is 20 months, but with the FastFlex option, students can complete the program in as few as 15 months. The degree is available at Stevens-Henager College’s Logan, Provo/Orem, Salt Lake City/Murray, Boise, Ogden/West Haven, Layton, Lehi, and Nampa campuses. Criteria for admission include a high school diploma or an equivalent GED® credential.
