Steve Elias, MD FACS FACPh., Vascular Surgeon and the Director, Columbia Vein Programs, Division of Vascular Surgery, Columbia University Medical Center, New York and at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, New Jersey was voted “Best Vascular Surgery” in New York Magazine’s 2011 "Best Doctors" edition. He is the only doctor chosen that specializes exclusively in treating vein disease. Dr. Elias was selected for his contributions to vein care, minimally invasive vein surgery and a devotion to physician education. Dr. Elias was chosen as one of New York's best doctors through a peer-review process from a pool of board-certified physicians who were given an anonymous and confidential opportunity to nominate outstanding physicians in various medical specialties and sub-specialties. The process was conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. New York Magazine published the results of these nominators who take into account a physician's education, residency, board certification, hospital appointment, disciplinary record and reputation for dealing with patients of various specialties and sub-specialties. The physicians included in the special annual issue of New York Magazine are representative of the top 2 percent of all New York doctors. Dr. Elias is honored to be recognized by his peers.


About Dr. Steve Elias: Steve Elias (MD FACS FACPh) Director, Division of Vascular Surgery Vein Programs of Columbia University NY and Englewood Hospital NJ was named by VEIN Magazine as one of the 25 most influential professionals in vein care worldwide and voted “Best Doctor” in 2009, 2010 and 2011 by New York Magazine. Dr. Elias lectures, publishes, and teaches extensively about minimally invasive vein care and procedures. As Founder and Course Director of the American Venous Forum's Annual Vascular Fellows Course in Venous Disease, he trains young vascular surgeons in the treatment of vein problems. His clinical interests encompass all aspects of vein care: spider veins, varicose veins, perforator and deep venous incompetence, and venous ulcers. He performs all minimally invasive vein procedures. His work at the Columbia Vein Programs also includes the prevention and treatment of DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis). Dr. Elias is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the International Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. In addition, he is a member of the New York Vascular Society and The New Jersey Vascular Society. He is a recipient of the Dardik Research and Education Award and The Fellows Course Education Award.
