On the 6th of July, FundLife International and Arsenal in the Community (AIC) through the Football For Life Academy programme will be holding the second part of Arsenal in the Community Cup 2019 in Tacloban City which will be facilitated by AIC Coaches Alangel Joseph and Oscar Wilson.
Both are helping FundLife in the implementation of the Football For Life Academy (FFLA) programme in partner schools and communities with the help of FFLA's local coaches. The event will also serve as a culmination on their initial engagement with FundLife.

From 9 am to 12 pm, six teams with a maximum number of eight players composed of three boys, one girl and four little kids who undergoes in the FFLA programme will compete at Sampaguita Multipurpose Hall in Brgy 57-A, Tacloban City.

The winners of the tournament will be awarded with a special Arsenal FC medal from the Arsenal Coaches.

"The activity is aimed to create a play environment for youth and children where their focus is to get to know each other and help them understand the value of unity and respect regardless of their football skills, the community they came from and their age." says Kimberly Lopez, Operations Manager of FundLife.

Since 2016, FundLife International has partnered with Arsenal in the Community, which saw two coaches from the club’s ‘Gap Year’ scheme join the FFLA programme in the Philippines for three months. Arsenal in the Community, the charitable arm of Arsenal Football Club, started in 1985 as a platform to engage children in positive practice through sport.

The FFLA programme was designed as a post-disaster play intervention for children affected by Typhoon Haiyan and has evolved into a holistic education programme that seeks to restore hope, purpose, and identity to children from vulnerable communities.

Aside from FFLA, Fundlife is also running a different programme which promotes ‘girls football,’ the Girls Community League (GCL). The league aims to protect, educate and empower girls from vulnerable communities by giving them equitable participation to sport and on-going mentorship.

The GCL is already set-up in Tacloban and Cebu.
