Press release from: Protochips

Protochips (protochips.com), a company specializing in revolutionary products for in situ electron microscopy, today announced that PicoScientific has been named to represent the AduroTM and PoseidonTM systems for in situ microscopy. PicoScientific is the latest addition to a robust distributor network as part of a strategic initiative to provide customized solutions. Bryan Majkrzak, President of PicoScientific, says, "Protochips is at the forefront of nanotechnology by providing researchers the ability to see their nano-materials whether they are in a pool of water or at a temperature of 1200 C. This kind of experimentation was simply impossible before their arrival into the marketplace.”

In the past microscopy was limited to imaging at room temperature. Scientist had to start a reaction at high temperature and then cool the sample before imaging, only creating a snapshot of the reaction. The Aduro™ system has revolutionized electron microscopy by imaging in real time at temperatures up to 1200 C. Researchers can now image a reaction from start to finish within the confines of the microscope.

The Poseidon™ system is a liquid based system that allows for the imaging of both material and biological samples. Samples that previously required freezing or were unable to be imaged live can now be studied directly in their native environment in real time.

Under the terms of the agreement, PicoScientific will be responsible for distribution to the Southeastern United States. The states included in this agreement are western North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Steve Shannon, Protochips Vice President of Sales, says, “We are extremely pleased to partner with PicoScientific. Bryan lives in and has focused on the southeast region for many years, is well known among the customer base, understands the technology and our value proposition, and has a reputation for outstanding work and responsiveness. We’re confident the combination of our technology with his capability will be beneficial not only to our mutual businesses, but also to our client base.”
