He also raises money for 'ProsTaid', a local Prostate Cancer Charity, putting on theatre shows and live music, concerts and festivals. Bip is currently working on a collection of short stories and his second novel entitled 'The Reluctant Terrorist'. He lives in Corby in England and is married to Elaine and has four children.
Excerpt from “Chopped”:
“Michael grinned amicably. ‘It’s quite simple, boyo. I’ve got no further use for you. And if you’re useless, then you may as well be dead.’
He cocked the pistol, and Rupert felt his knees give way. His mind turned white hot with panic, his mouth gaped open and shut like a fish’s.
‘No,’ he said. ‘No, wait.’
Michael shook his head with mock regret. ‘Sorry, old timer.’
Rupert flinched as the barrel of the gun was forced under his chin. ‘Surely there must be something? I’m a bloody MP surely there’s some way I can be useful to you?’ He spoke quickly, desperation giving his voice an eerie seriousness as if he were brokering a deal rather than pleading for his life.
Michael put his hand on his hip, as though berating a particularly stupid child. ‘How’s that, then?’
‘Information!’ Rupert blurted.
‘Information? What do you think this is, a bloody Bond movie?’
Rupert’s brain went into overdrive as he desperately thought of some way to barter for his life. ‘I have information that might prove useful to you! To the IRA!’
Michael sighed. ‘Go on then. What?’
‘The Prince, the heir to the throne; he’s coming to Bromsfield to learn how to fly a helicopter.’
McConnell slowly put the gun away, a wicked grin cracking his face.”
