Startup Weekend Taipei – International 54-hour Startup Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Taipei, June 12, 2011 – Startup Weekend is coming to Taipei, and will be held at National Cheng-chi University on August 12-14. Startup Weekend is a 54 hour startup event that provides the networking, resources, and incentives for individuals and teams to go from idea to launch. Startup Weekend Taipei will be the 373rd event globally but 1st ever to be held in Taiwan. The event is open to anyone interested in the local entrepreneurial community, and it puts attendees in a setting where anything is possible. Ideal attendees include developers, designers, entrepreneurs, marketing and business people, university graduates and those uninspired by their current employment.

Together, we are our own community of passionate entrepreneurs on a mission to help other entrepreneurs facilitate innovation. Tickets are limited and the early bird rate ($1,000NT) is valid through June 15.

An All-Star list of experienced mentors, including Taiwanese, Chinese and Silicon Valley Serial Entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, public company executives and will provide hands-on mentoring to guide teams from ideas to proof of concept prototypes. Speakers and mentors are announced via our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

With more young people willing to experiment with ideas and investors willing to back them, Taiwan with its strong experience in technology, has a competitive advantage in the global software startup scene. Taiwan is more westernized than its Asian neighbors, an advantage that startups here can utilize. Taiwan’s start up ecosystem is poised to grow as Taiwan is ideally placed to become a bridge between Greater China and the West.

Startup Weekend Taipei will end on Sunday evening with presentations, prizes and perhaps seed investment. What all participating teams will receive is invaluable access to some of the leading minds in the startup ecosystem as well as the exposure that comes with an internationally renowned event.

Startup Weekend Taipei is sponsored by Yushan Ventures, Enspyre, Microsoft BizSpark, WizXpand, IMBA NCCU, appWORKS and AsiaHowTo.
