Stevens-Henager College Offers CoARC-Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
CoARC is a recognized authority for the accreditation of professional degree programs in respiratory care. Established as an initiative to promote high standards for respiratory care education, CoARC grants accreditation to institutes and programs only after a thorough evaluation and rigorous review. With the CoARC program approval, Stevens-Henager College’s Associate’s in Respiratory Therapy program has established its dedication to providing students with the skills and training required to fulfill the vital and specialized function of a respiratory therapist or technician.
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data*, the population of seniors is growing rapidly in the United States and will continue to rise exponentially over the next decade. Since cardiopulmonary diseases are most prevalent in this particular age bracket, the demand for respiratory therapists and technicians is expected to climb drastically as well.
The degree focuses on essential respiratory therapy topics such as vital signs and emergencies, cardiopulmonary pathophysiology, pulmonary function testing, pulmonary rehabilitation and alternate site care, and perinatal and pediatric care, to just name a few.
The Associate's in Respiratory Therapy program is 20 months long, and is available at the Salt Lake City/Murray and Boise campuses of Stevens-Henager College. The Respiratory Therapy program at the Salt Lake City-Murray campus is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com). The Respiratory Therapy program at the Boise campus holds a Letter of Review CoARC. Criteria for eligibility and enrollment include drug test clearance, a criminal background check, a high school diploma or an equivalent GED® credential, the completion of stipulated prerequisites, and an admissions test.
