TÜV Rheinland certificate for Oerlikon Solar ThinFabTM modules

The high level of quality and reliability Oerlikon Solar is offering to its customers was now confirmed by TÜV Rheinland, an independent German technical service provider. Oerlikon Solar’s thin film silicon solar modules in the range of up to 147 Wp designed for the ThinFabTM production have passed all tests required according to IEC 61646 and IEC 61730 standards by TÜV Rheinland. “The TÜV Rheinland certification for our thin film silicon solar modules of the ThinFab™ generation is an important differentiator in the market which sets us apart from competition. Based on our technology, our customers can offer end users highest module quality and reliability with a superior value-for-money ratio”, said Helmut Frankenberger, CEO of Oerlikon Solar.

The TÜV Rheinland module performance and safety tests put Oerlikon Solar modules through several months of extensive examination including accelerated lifetime tests for heat, freezing, thermal cycles, humidity, and UV exposure. Mechanical impact tests were also conducted. All tests were passed with success confirming all in-house analysis of Oerlikon Solar. With the TÜV Rheinland certified module, producers are able to gain a considerably higher price premium over uncertified modules. In many European countries, these certificates are obligatory in order to receive renewable incentives. It also adds to the confidence that extended endurance and product safety will be up to the latest standards. The certification is valid world-wide, and it is just one part of the scalable and most reliable platform from which Oerlikon Solar will build up its production and services. The certificates guarantee Oerlikon Solar turnkey customers the highest standards available on the market. “With this certification, Oerlikon Solar has majored a breakthrough in the thin film silicon technology and positions itself clearly as a technology leader in equipment and module design.
