The US Government’s Ban on Huawei Mobiles Creates a Massive Stir

On May 15th, the US President Donald Trump announced that the country was placing a ban on one of the largest mobile conglomerates of the world, Huawei. This comes as a result of the ongoing trade wars between the US and China, the country that manufactures the mobile devices in question. They have also been alleged of hacking into the USA’s security systems and posing serious threats to its overall well-being. This announcement has greatly affected the future of the Huawei mobiles as a whole.

Following this, Google confirmed that it will cut all ties with Huawei and will not provide access to any Android tools/updates to the unreleased devices. The current ones will, however, have all the services pertaining to after-sales, network, customer care, etc. This is a huge blow to Huawei who had planned the release of 5G phones to users from around the world. There are many mobile app development service providers in the USA who are at a disadvantage as Huawei cannot buy goods/services from any US based company, post the statement.

After this major proclamation, many mobile services providers in the USA are in a dilemma. However, in order to make it easier for existing customers, the Government has offered a 90 days license to Huawei to help in the transition. In this period, even Google has agreed to partner with the Company so that their customers do not face any major issues, going forward.

As an answer to the ban imposed on Huawei, the Company’s CEO has announced that they will refund the cost of their new devices, bought post May 2019, to any customers who face issues with popular apps such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc. This has been described as a resort to save its reputation in the current situation.
