Electronic Technologies International Achieves UL 508A Industrial Control Panels Certification

Electronic Technologies International (ETI), Fort Atkinson WI, an established Electronics Manufacturing Services company, announced that the company has been awarded UL 508A Industrial Control Panels Certification.

Achievement of this new certification by ETI reinforces the company’s commitment to continued service expansion for both new and existing customers.

The UL certification covers the design and build of Industrial Control Panels for equipment such as Heating/Cooling, IT & Communications, Utility Systems, Gas/Vapor Detection, Emergency Lighting & Alarms, Commercial/Industrial Gas Burners, Fluid Dispensing, Crane & Hoist, Factory Automation, Power Supplies, Food Processing, Medical Technology, Fluid-handling Systems, and Fire Protection.

The Problem:
A potential customer came to ETI with a control panel project because their current panel builder wasn't able to keep up with demand (See photo at right). When ETI first received the panel sample, it came with only a wiring schematic and incomplete BOM's. ETI staff quickly recognized that it also came with opportunities to improve quality and reliability, as well as reduce costs.

The Solution:
ETI engineers and customer service team met, along with the customer, to create a plan of action and a priority list. Within a month, ETI presented the customer with an attractive quote to include (1) PLC programming and functional test procedures, (2) complete BOM's and CAD drawings, (3) improved internal point-to-point wiring, (4) enhanced overall product aesthetics, (5) customized returnable shipping materials, and (6) a safety stock program that buffered spikes in demand. Today, ETI has a strong, long-term partnership with client as a result of ETI's engineering services, quality program, inventory management, and skilled workmanship.
