Mystudentid: student life is more fun
It has recently come to the attention of two undergraduate students that there is not one simple website that integrates a lifestyle solutions portal for UK students with effective social networking. Being two undergraduate finalist students, Marinos and Shaun have a first-hand insight into the trials, challenges and positive processes that being an undergrad student in the UK is all about. Using this insight, they have been able to create mystudentid, that simply provides a lifestyle solutions tool for students through guides, literature and interactive materials. That is only the beginning however. Now that they have integrated the Student Ambassador platform into the website, mystudentid allows the global student population the opportunity to communicate with each other. From the start they wanted to construct a tool for students by students, and both assert that this thinking will always remain. At the basic level, mystudentid is a brand new innovative student website, that provides cool lifestyle solutions for the UK student population. When you visit the website you will see much more. The innovative flat share application, experiences guide for each major UK city and student ambassadors’ profiles offer students with something that no other website has ever done before, whilst the personal development element of the site includes articles that even the most well-rounded student would find useful during the all too often application and essay deadlines.
mystudentid is not just a website, but rather a comprehensive lifestyle guide that allows students to realize their full potential, before, during and after their university career. The site can be easily deconstructed into the basic components of; Live, Work, Play and Grow; each component focusing on a different element of the student lifestyle. With the tuition fees having the potential to rise up to £83,000 for an undergraduate degree, budgeting and financial planning is a skill all students must learn and so mystudentid provides comprehensive guides on money and how to deal with stress during difficult money and exam periods.
Founded in the summer of 2010 by Marinos Constantinides and Shaun Beedle, two-second year university students, mystudentid is a prime example of information made by students, for students. Combining Marinos’ experience of being a foreign student in the UK with Shaun’s knowledge on the UK education system and culture, the two worked tirelessly all summer on a shoe-string budget of £500 to research, formulate and create what now promises to be the biggest student resource website in the UK within the next few years. Working over video conferencing, in cafes, school staffrooms and lounges both here in the UK, and in Cyprus, the site has already proven a success with several schools across the country. Its constant development aims to suit the needs and wants of students. There are no flashy business cards or offices, just a laptop and a vision to create a valuable tool accessible to every single student in the UK.
Research shows that in 2009, 21.7% of all graduates who were in employment six months after their graduation were taken on from an employer they had preciously worked for. The Interview and Relationships Tips on mystudentid will provide students with the skills needed to realize their full potential when searching for employment. The Brain Food Tips presented on the website can help develop and promote a healthy student lifestyle through the provision of fast, easy and cheap dietary guides.
The team is now working on mystudentidTV, a video sharing platform for the student community, in which students can watch, upload, and share videos on articles and issues related to the student lifestyle. Just when you think the site couldn’t get any better, the boys announce the pre-launch of mystudentidTV, a video sharing platform for the student community in which students can watch, upload and share videos on articles and issues related to the student lifestyle. mystudentid is at the forefront of what students want and need for a successful university lifestyle. Using a network of student volunteers to contribute their skill base to the site, mystudentid is showcase of student talents with bachelors, masters and even PhD students contributing their skills to the development of the site. They all share a common vision of all every student in every city of the world being given the opportunity to realize their full potential. Will you join us? (I wouldn’t write Will you join us, but rather Will you join them?)
