FINLAND’S VILLE UOTILA WINS TTR THREE(3)STAR ABSOLUT PARK SPRING FESTIVAL SLOPESTYLE CONTEST

Flachauwinkl, Austria. In mutable Spring weather, slopestyle snowboarder Ville Uotila (FIN) pulled off a worthy victory at the TTR THREE(3)STAR Absolut Park Spring Battle, Flachauwinkl, Salzburger Land, Austria, 31st March- 1st April, 07.

After postponement of Saturday’s Finals to Sunday due to flat light conditions, the 10-man final, cut from an original line-up of 24, sessioned the Slopestyle set-up built around a 20 metre-long kicker, wallride and corner, to a best-of-two-runs format, under hot sun. Ville Uotila (FIN) took the 1st place winner’s cheque of 1,500euro and 550 TTR Ranking Points through a well-executed run consisting of a switch backside 720 on the kicker and frontside 540 on the corner. His fifth TTR slopestyle result of the season, Uotila (FIN) added to his ranking score and jumped up from TTR World Nr 49 to the World Nr 31 spot on the TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch.

‘Today was a perfect day for me as I won. I am so happy, I had a great time in Austria this week filming for four days in Kaprun and then winning the Absolut Park Spring Battle,’ quoted Uotila (FIN).

Local Austrian riders claimed the remaining podium spots. Marc Swoboda (AUT) placed 2nd through a clean backside 720 Japan on the kicker to a frontside 720 Indy air on the corner, whilst Philipp Gruber (AUT) finished 3rd with a backside 540 nose-grab on the kicker to transfer-lip-slide on the wall-ride. Swoboda’s (AUT) result is his fifth of the TTR season – all ridden in Austria – and positions him comfortably at TTR World Nr 60.

Post-crowning the TTR Tour Champions, the calendar continues through to the end of April 2007. All TTR contests attended until then will provide riders with TTR Ranking Points for the 06/07 TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch to add to their overall ranking score until May 01st, 2007.
