Astrocytoma is a medical condition that develops from astrocytes, a star-shaped brain cells. Occurrence of anaplastic astrocytomas is more common in adults compared to children, according to American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). The ABTA estimates that anaplastic astrocytomas in people aged 30-35 years accounted for 17% of primary malignant brain tumors, however, only 9% of tumor in children are glioblastomas.
