Riderwood Retirement Community in Silver Spring, MD, Introduces New Flexible Spending Plan; Seven Apartment Homes Reserved in Just Two Weeks

SILVER SPRING, MD (May 24, 2011) -- Despite encouraging news regarding the upswing in the Washington, D.C., real estate market, gone are the days when houses sold in less than a day. On average, a home in the D.C. metropolitan area stays on the market close to 100 days before it is under contract.

The details are simple. Under Riderwood’s new flexible pricing plan, people pay a lower entrance deposit and make a larger monthly service package payment. For many, it means they can move to Riderwood and then deal with the sale of their house.

There is no time limit for the plan. People can indefinitely continue with the flexible pricing payments. They can also switch over to the regular payment plan at any time.

“Switching back to traditional payments is appealing to many people after they sell their house,” says Director of Sales Jason Longwell. “Typically the sale of their house frees up funds to pay the higher entrance deposit, which in turn, lowers the monthly payments. At the same time, there are others who prefer to stick with the lower entrance deposit because it frees up their money for other things. The best part is that it is entirely up to the individual.”

In the two weeks since its inception, seven apartment homes have already been reserved.

“This tells us that people like what they are hearing,” says Longwell. “We’ve barely had time to get the word out and people are continually calling for details.”

Based on the initial success of the program, Longwell is confident Riderwood is offering an option that is appealing to many people. “Our goal is to help anyone wishing to move to Riderwood,” he says.
