India Gate to get Baggage Scanners Soon!!

Recently security audit of India Gate has been done by the Delhi Police and it was found out that there is a need for baggage scanner at the beginning point of Rajpath for the improved security of the area. This particular move is to be taken in order to ensure that no unwanted items are present near the war memorial.
The confirmation has been given by the Deputy Commissioner of Police of New Delhi (Madhur Verma) about this. He even said that this is being done to create a more tourist-friendly environment at the memorial. Also, this will assure complete safety and prevent the presence of any undesirable elements and malefactors.
DCP Shobit Saksena also said that with baggage scanner it’ll be easier to maintain the security around India Gate. In about a week they’ll start setting up the baggage scanners after assessing the number of scanners required. For the initial phase, only a few will be set up to check if they can handle the footfall. Then, according to the need, more will be installed. Moreover, this is an anti-terror safety measure, thus it will only have a positive impact. Not only this, but the Delhi Police Department is also planning to set up some baggage scanners on some particular routes at India Gate, so as entry or exit can be restricted for the visitors.
The current plan is to restrict the exit from Rajpath and only entry will be allowed. For now, both exit and entry is are allowed from Rajpath, but soon the crowd will be diverted to Kastruba Gandhi Marg. Parking of the vehicles will be allowed on the stretch between Man Singh Road and Rajpath. The left out area from Man Singh Road to C-Hexagon will be for walking and pedestrian crowd and no vehicles will be allowed.
With so many modifications, the Government will make sure that changes don’t irritate the people and signage will be installed for better clarity. This would ensure a better understanding of the new routes to all.
Mr. Saksena also stated that to make the experience hassle-free for the people, vendors on the circle of India Gate have also been removed. Only the vendors who have permission from the NDMC are allowed to set their shop on the stretch between Man Singh Road and C-Hexagon.
This experiment with baggage scanners and routes is being done to control the traffic and crowd simultaneously during the weekends. Surely we can relish better facilitation at India Gate in a few days.
