Larger Percentage of People Than Expected Believe Jesus Will Return on May 21st, 2011
For months the “Save the Date” campaign has paid for billboards, newspaper ads, online ads, and radio spots to promote its position that Jesus Christ of Biblical fame will return to Earth on May 21st, 2011.Wepolls.com took polling on the question of whether or not people really believe that Jesus will return of the prophesized dated, and the results are surprising.
Of 270 people surveyed, a full fifteen percent (15%) believe that Jesus is coming back, and that they’re ready for him. That’s more than expected according to Wepolls.com Chairman, Alex Karandreas.
“We expected the results for those who believe that essentially the rapture is near would be negligible,” Karendreas says. “And in the raw data, that’s how it looks, but after scientifically analyzing the cross tabs, a surprising picture emerges. This just goes to show how steeped in religion Americans really are.”
Still, the overwhelming majority, 73 percent find the whole idea preposterous. “That’s more in line with what we thought we’d find,” Karendreas explains, “But it’s still smaller than expected.”
The remainder of responses are divided up between those who are hopeful of a return, and those who are doubtful of one.
