SILVER SPRING, MD (May 10, 2011) – A seven-year collaboration between the resident of a retirement community in Silver Spring, MD, and his home support aide has just resulted in the publication of a 100-page ebook/hardback of the resident’s poetry, prose and humorous sketches of life.

Ned Bayley, who lives at Riderwood retirement community, published “Points of View” with behind-the-scenes assistance from Capri White-Coleman, who served as secretary and editor for the book. White-Coleman worked with Bayley for one hour each week to help proofread his manuscript. “Points of View” is published by Twistin’ Creek Publishers and is available in ebook and hardback formats through www.Lulu.com .

“Building a friendship with Mr. Bayley has been the most rewarding aspect of it all,” said White-Coleman. “He is a talented writer with so much to share. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to help him.” She and Bayley are now working together to develop a picture book for young readers.

“’Points of View’ was written over a long period of time, beginning when I was a senior in college,” said Bayley. “I began to react to things around me through my writing. I have never quit. A lot of things have happened in the world during my lifetime. This book is my reaction to them.”

Bayley published his first book, a 400-year history of Colesville, MD, in 1998. In 2006 he published a 200-page novel entitled “The Fathers of Caleb Whitcomb,” which is based on his experiences in Colesville where he and his late wife, Joyce, once lived.

Bayley was active in the Greater Colesville Citizens Association and is the founder of the annual Colesville Strawberry Festive that he formed to bring Colesville residents and businesses together. The festival also became a fundraiser to help disadvantaged men, women and children.

Bayley moved to Riderwood in 2003. He brought with him a puppet named Horns Waggle. Together, they entertained audiences of all ages in the greater Silver Spring area. Bayley led a Unitarian Universalist discussion group on Science and Religion at Riderwood. He is an avid gardener.

Bayley, a native of Battle Creek, Michigan, served as Director of Science and Education at the United States Department of Agriculture. He received the 1970 Civil Service Award from the National Civil Service League. He also received the Order of Merit from the Spanish Government in 1977. And a Certificate of Appreciation from the Maryland House of Delegates in 1991.

Bayely holds a BS Degree from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
