Salt water aquarists can help save the reefs

Anybody, anywhere around the world can help save the reefs – the more people that are knowledgeable about salt water life can lead to a better future for natures coral reefs.

Coral reefs all around the world are in danger – in danger from man themselves. In man's efforts to evolve we are damaging natures creations themselves. They have as much right to be on this planet as we do. We should be doing all we can to ensure the safe survival of the natural coral reef.

Mankind has a desire to explore the outer reaches of space, however we have not conquered the depths of the ocean.

Coral reefs are in slow decline, mainly caused by mankind. With the pollutants which we pour into the ocean to our detrimental harvesting of the life itself which calls the coral reef it's home.

Unfortunately the latter can easily be rectified. There are lots of people who would like to have a salt water aquarium in their own home, however with the lack of information available as to how to set-up your own aquarium lots of potential aquarists are either not starting out at all in this hobby or are setting up an aquarium which is incorrect therefore not providing the correct habitat for the life which they hope to keep.

This lack of information is causing lots of aquatic life to die in the aquarium. Quite often these animals are simply replaced rather than the aquarist finding out what was wrong.

If a potential aquarist had all the information they required to start their own salt water aquarium correctly they would the be able to provide the corals, fish, invertebrates etc. with the habitat which they require not just to survive but to thrive.

The more aquarists which can start in this hobby the better. With more aquarists being involved this allows for more corals to be propagated, more fish to be home bred which therefore means that less life will be harvested from the corals reefs themselves.

With their aquariums set up correctly this will allow for fewer deaths in the aquarium which again will allow for less livestock to be harvested from the reefs.

The Salt Water Aquarium was created for this very purpose. This site allows beginners to have all the information they require to start and care for a salt water aquarium correctly. If a salt water hobbyist starts correctly then their passion for the hobby will increase not decline.
