PITSS Unveils PITSS.CON 8.0.4
Migrating Oracle Forms and Reports Business Logic to Database, or Oracle Forms and Designer-generated Forms Applications to Oracle ADF has never been easierStuttgart, May 9th, 2011
Today, PITSS introduced the new 8.0.4 release of its PITSS.CON Product Suite. PITSS.CON will deliver innovative capabilities in modernizing legacy Oracle Forms database applications: impressive analysis capabilities for getting back the control over the application and cleaning the application from unused or redundant components, re-engineering solutions for migrating the business logic from the Forms application to database stored program units and reasonable and smooth migrating the application to Oracle Application Developer Framework (ADF) and Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) and many others. The automated migration from Forms to ADF is equipped with innovative re-engineering capabilities to deal with even the toughest challenges of corporate Oracle Designer-generated Forms applications. PITSS.CON is turning into reality what others are only talking about: an iterative modernization path that increases, at each step, the software quality, based on sound analysis results.
Getting back control over the application
PITSS.CON offers unrivalled analysis capabilities for legacy Oracle Forms and Reports application. The analyzing and reporting mechanisms are of particular importance in regaining control over big applications. They are laying the best foundation for successful modernization projects. These analysis and re-engineering solutions have been reinforced in upgrade, migration and modernization projects for thousands of client applications, including some of the largest legacy Oracle Forms and Reports applications. The new ‘Missing Objects’ functionality will assist in defining the entire application components by automatically identifying any missing objects in a complex application. The Application Analysis ‘Drill Down’ functionality has been further improved to offer an analysis of all the objects called from an Oracle Forms module and therefore quickly assess the impacts of any application change or simply offer a detailed source code documentation for the application.
Migrating the business logic from Forms, Reports, PLL and OLB modules to the Oracle database
The Application Engineering with its ‘BL2DB Assistant’ offers a powerful capability of PITSS.CON for migrating business logic to database, aimed to preserve the investment in Oracle Forms and Reports applications and to lead to the creation of an innovative Service-Oriented Architecture. The migrated business logic can be re-used not only in the initial Forms and Reports application, but can also be integrated in any other application, or be exposed as Web Services to the outside world. This feature is of particular importance in migration projects from Forms to ADF, APEX or other frameworks, reducing, by itself, the project duration with 20-30%. The BL2DB module functionality range has been significantly extended in PITSS.CON 8.0.4. Its intuitive, easy-to-use interface makes possible that even easier and more business logic can be automatically identified and migrated to the database. The automated process is extremely flexible, allowing the database architect to make informed decisions in customizing the business logic and the generated application structure.
Migrating to ADF of large Oracle Forms and Designer-generated Oracle Forms applications
PITSS.CON ADF Assistant is successfully applied in client projects and now offers new features designed to maximize the degree of automation in re-engineering the ADF application. Further Object types are supported, like When-Validate-Item triggers or Static record groups. A bulk generation of large applications is now extremely easy. The automated processes have been further improved to optimally support Forms applications generated with Oracle Designer. Here is the specific of such applications, like naming conventions, dynamic structure, data managing, and others, correspondingly taken into consideration.
The modular structure of PITSS.CON will continue to accompany you with even more customized solutions to managing your application. You choose precisely the PITSS.CON modules that support you optimally for your tasks and problems, whether it involves quality assurance regarding the development process, multilingual functionality or an analysis of your application for accurately determining reengineering steps. PITSS.CON Upgrade and Migration solutions are offering the support that is necessary to create new, easy-to-manage applications, in which the investments of previous years are secured and in which both the graphical user interface as well as the company-critical business logic receive appropriate consideration.
